February 2023 update

As many folks may be aware of from my social media, in July 2022, I decided to make a career pivot and leave academia and paleontology (the #altac lifestyle). I will just refer you to my Twitter if you want to catch up on that. Technically I remained in a part-time academic role as a research scientist at UWa after my postdoc technically ended, but that position has now ended as of February 15th. At this time, I have no intention to return to pursuing a permanent academic career, but as I still have many lingering academic projects that I am committed to seeing through to completion, I will likely inevitably remain in an academic-adjacent position through at least the end of 2023 and likely through most/all of 2024 as well. I will continue to maintain this website as the central location for all of my professional paleontology materials and resources (more to come on the latter in the coming months).

As I have gotten a number of questions from all sorts of people about all sorts of things, which can be broadly grouped under "what do I do and what don't I do," I'm providing a short reference list below. Please make sure to direct all future correspondences to my new email (bryangee[dot]temnospondyli[at]gmail[dot]com.

Requests/opportunities I will consider

  • Invitations to review manuscripts
  • Requests for updates/contributions to ongoing projects
  • Invitations to give virtual guest lectures, seminars, etc. (in-person is not feasible unless all expenses are covered)
  • General inquiries about temnospondyls
  • Fossil ID

Requests/opportunities I am not currently considering

  • New collaborations
  • Invitations to revive projects that have been inactive for more than 2.5 years (so anything that has not been measurably actioned since prior to the pandemic)
  • Invitations to serve as a special issue or regular editor for a journal
